We are looking for visionary solutions to the following challenges:

    No middleman

A long time ago when blockchain was first introduced it enabled a truly revolutionary functionality – secure, fast and international transactions, that required no middleman. Later on, with the evolution of this technology, followed by the wide introduction of smart contracts it became transparent that universal omission of third parties (not only limited to money transactions) is perhaps among the most exciting and useful applications of blockchain.

Starting from financial industry, through administration (voting) or supply chain management, ending at basically any kind of services – blockchain offers a powerful possibility to bypass the function of historically established intermediaries.

The team that will decide to undertake this challenge will have to propose a solution that would disrupt the market by eliminating the need of a middleman, thus allowing direct transactions, services or payments of any kind. For this challenge we will not specify the exact sector or industry that you should focus on, because our intention is not to narrow you down to any particular frame of thinking. In fact, the possibilities are endless, and the limitation lies within the confines of your imagination only. Just think about it - there are already 21 blockchain related unicorns on the market and the new technological wave is coming as fast as ever! Dream big and use the knowledge of our mentors and experts to create the first ever Polish blockchain unicorn! Now it's high time to join the revolution!

This challenge is prepared by UnicornsHouse - A Global Blockchain Hub. Throughout the whole preparation time you will be guided by the team of excellent mentors who are experts in the fields of technology, law, business and more...

    Digital Identity

Smart Contracts cannot be really smart without knowledge about the identity of the parties involved. Help us enhance the permissionless blockchains. Together we could also improve the KYC procedure to make it easier and even safer.

Our goal is to make it happen in a decentralized way as much as it is possible, just like the blockchain does. It is also important to meet GDPR requirements, so any of the parties should be able to prove their identities but for non-participants they should be well protected and hidden.

We strongly believe that such a solution is possible in some combination of PSD2 and eIDAS. We need your help to connect the dots and fill the blockchain identity gap.

You will be guided throughout the competition by Alior Bank experts who will do their best to help you move the needle in solving the challenge.

    E-CMR on blockchain

Imagine that in the world where more and more things are being automated (and humanity is even experimenting with so called ‘self-driving’ cars), one of the most vital documents in transportation industry is still based only on paper forms. The CMR, which is the name of this document, is used on daily basis as a waybill by every single company that transports goods within Europe.

No surprises here – the big amounts of paper generated by this procedure must be archived and kept in physical repository for a couple of years. In a modern and digitalized world this way of handling transportation documents can hardly be called a convenient one, hence there is indeed some room for improvement!

The team that will decide to undertake this challenge will have to propose a blockchain based solution that will allow a digitalization of CMR documents. However, the task does not end here, because once those data are put online a new range of possible functionalities opens. From live tracking of transportation trucks (thus enhancing logistics) to faster and more secure settlement of accounts → there are plenty of new ideas to be introduced.

Let the blockchain technology shine in this real-life challenge that we offer you in cooperation with Polish Ministry of Finance. Throughout the whole time you will be guided by our mentor, who is an expert in the field of CMR waybills and the transportation industry in general.

History of vehicle in a decentralized architecture

The "Vehicle history" service (https://historiapojazdu.gov.pl) allows the seller of the vehicle to share its history with a potential buyer. The history of the vehicle includes chronological data of subsequent owners, completed past inspections, meter statuses and vehicle insurance history. The blockchain network is the ideal solution for storing and processing collected information about the vehicle.

Currently, services for citizens are created as centralized solutions. Moreover, in the current service it is only the public administration institutions or authorized entities (eg Vehicle Inspection Stations) which can add the new information into the database. For citizens, the service is available in read-only mode.

The goal of the challenge is to create - using blockchain technology - a service for a citizens, which would store a history of vehicles. However, the task does not end here, because once a blockchain database solution is introduced a plethora of new functionalities opens up. The new options should include: permitting other entities to enter the network (hence allowing introduction of a new information about the sale transaction to the blockchain database, meanwhile abolishing the need to report the fact of selling in a paper documents. Such information has to be authorized by both buyer and seller) or allowing car manufacturers to send live calls for service inspections.

During the implementation of the challenge participants will be guided by a mentor who is familiar with the issues and processes related to the vehicle history service.
